Team up, track your runs,
compete for your city, win rewards!
PaceArena is built around certain sports psychology ideas that can benefit your running efforts.
Running is easier to enjoy when it feels connected to other people. Research on group exercise links group membership with social support, companionship, exercise identity, and higher physical activity. PaceArena gives runners a shared team goal, so every run contributes to something bigger than individual stats.

A little competition can push people to show up and try harder. In one randomized exercise study, social comparison increased class attendance by about 90% compared with conditions without comparison. PaceArena uses that effect in a team-based way, so competition feels motivating, not intimidating.

People are more motivated when they can see that their effort is making a difference. Research based on self-determination theory links exercise motivation with competence, autonomy, and support. PaceArena makes progress visible on the city map, so every run feels easier to understand and more rewarding.

It is easier to skip a run when it only affects you. Group-based exercise creates social support and a stronger exercise identity, both of which are linked with higher physical activity. When your kilometres help your team, you get an extra reason to stay consistent.

Points, goals, progress, and competition can make physical activity more engaging. In the STEP UP randomized clinical trial, gamified interventions increased physical activity, and the competition version had the strongest effect during the intervention. PaceArena brings those mechanics into a running game around the city.

Connect your Strava account - your runs will sync automatically.
Teams are made of up to 6 runners. Every run by every member adds points to the team and counts towards your shared territory goal.
PAPs are calculated based on distance, pace and other potential team bonuses, like consistency and team size.
Spend your team PAPs to claim new sectors or compete for sectors of opposing teams. Capture as much as you can of your city.
This project is in early conceptual development. We're actively testing assumptions and iterating based on runner feedback.
